FUNDRAISING: There are times when one becomes flabbergasted. One month ago we were in despair, and suddenly we received a $1,000 donation from a couple that has been loyal to Swans for a long time, donating more than once a year -- quite a few people send us money more than once a year. Then other loyal readers and friends (most of them we've never met but through a keyboard and an Internet connection) kept sending $100 and $200 here and there. So, we almost reached the $4,000 mark. There is no way for us to express our gratitude to all but to simply say THANK YOU. Best wishes for the New Year.

As 2013 draws to a close, it's time for us to put seriousness aside and channel our irreverent selves for our traditional Infamous Predictions™. Looking back over the years, sometimes we get it right in all our silliness, though our end-of-the-world prediction has yet to hit the mark, despite all the debauchery that is supposed to bring it on. So who knows what's in store for 2014? There certainly will be some sporty entertainment, with the Winter Olympics in Russia and the FIFA World Cup in Brazil -- all eyes will be on the success of the two host countries. Will Scotland finally declare independence? Will Hillary Clinton finally declare her candidacy? Will we really withdraw troops from Afghanistan, only to put them back in Iraq? Will reason prevail over wingnuts? Lots of questions for the coming year, and one thing we know for sure: Swans will still be around to provide sanity. In the meantime, our best wishes to all for the New Year and enjoy our predictions, this year brought to you courtesy of Michael Barker, Jan Baughman, Peter Byrne, Jonah Raskin, Glenn Reed, Harvey Whitney, Jr., and Gilles d'Aymery.
