Halloween Skeletons On The Rocks
by Marie Rennard
Poetry
(Swans - October 22, 2007)
Eyes and heart so filled with hope
See dancing white skeletons
Hear rhythm of inner clock
Quick and slow and quicker slow
The ladies have pretty bones
But their gentlemen lack hair
They all drink whisky on ice
Sweet skeletons on the rocks
Their feet flutter throb and throb
They're watching the inner clock
With candles in black eye-holes
They know it will soon be time
For them to wake up dreamers
Stop their hearts and cut their locks
Get them join the ugly dance
Of skeletons on the rocks.
