Poetry
(Swans - August 25, 2008)
Limbs are gone.
Eyes are missing.
Brains are rattled.
Youth dies.
Brides are widows.
Children are orphans.
Mothers weep.
Fathers die slowly.
Presidents smile.
Profiteers laugh.
Politicians bluster.
Talking heads spew.
The rich invest.
The poor pay the bill.
Treasure is wasted.
Reputation suffers.
The few terrorize the many.
Some wonder why.
No one stops the madness.
We all share the guilt.
While we allow it
war is endless.
If we rationalize it
war owns us.
